Azimuth's Automatic Back-In-Time (BIT) impressed the world with its debut at 2009 Baselworld for its simple complexity. A throwback to the days of sun dials, it showcases Azimuth's innovative stance in creating unique timepieces, being the world's first reverse direction single-hand timepiece. To date the BIT remains as one of Azimuth’s most iconic models.

2021 marks a special occasion for Azimuth’s BIT creation; this year we will be celebrating Singapore’s 56th birthday, and we have waited 11 years to create this truly memorable timepiece. Why is this so?

Back in 2010, Azimuth created a commemorative timepiece for Singapore 45th birthday with a unique placement of the number “45”, which cannot be designed on a conventional watch, owning to the natural placement of the numerals in an anti-clockwise fashion, resulting in the number ‘’45” being written as the way it should be.

Fast forward 11 years later, the numerals again present themselves naturally as “56” when they are placed in an anti-clockwise fashion. We have waited for this moment to be able to finally present to you the new 2021 Azimuth “56 BIT SINGAPORE COMMEMORATIVE EDITION”.

However, the fun doesn’t stop just here; known for creating watches with cartoon characters, for example the famous manga character “Go Astro Boy Go!”, Azimuth has partnered with Garfield to create this year’s BIT. Limited to only 56 pieces (for obvious reason), this watch will surely hold a special place in the hearts of many Singapore collectors.

This watch depicts Garfield in a fencing outfit and going on the offensive, symbolising our fight as a nation against the pandemic. The playful nature of Garfield is best captured by the artist’s impression of him standing sideways holding a sword and sporting a cheeky smile. At all times Garfield displays fluidity as his hand moves at every time-telling position.
